Science at the Public House

fiddlers-cosmos-crowd.JPGThe Fiddler's Hearth Public House in South Bend, IN, has been an advocate for science, and for the benefit of AstroCamp they stepped up again. On March 9, 2014, Fiddler's Hearth hosted a showing of the premiere of Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey that raised almost $400.00 in donations.

Two evenings prior, on the First Friday in March, the Michiana Astronomical Society set up telescopes outside the Irish pub to give passers-by a view of earth's moon and of Jupiter and its moons.  The sidewalk astronomy generated interest in the ensuing Cosmos event as well as gave several people their first such views through a telescope.  Over 200 people put their eye to a telescope.

Thanks go to the Fiddler's Hearth and its supportive owners and staff for facilitating astronomy outreach in the community.
